basketball reflection
The basketball finals were very tiring. Our match was the last one against ISU from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. I had to sit and watch the other matches from 8am. The other matches were interesting. KISU won the first match for the 13 and under against ISU. However that was the only match we won all day. The other matches were against Heritage and ISU and we lost all of them including ours. Our match was a massacre. We were beat 38-3. I think our defeat was because of the fact that we were nervous and not focused enough. In the first two quarters this was the case but we improved in the last two quarters in defence mostly. We played man on man and they played zone which meant that our defence was loose and theirs was very tight. The day was not as disappointing I managed to finish two pieces of my homework since I was there since 8am. I played for about 5minutes in the game but this time I didn't score but the whole basketball experience was worth it.

MUN reflection
Today in MUN we were learning how to make proposals for our solutions to the Israeli-Palestine conflict. First we had to understand how to structure the proposals and I learnt that very formal and straight forward language is used. Instead of one of the solutions beginning with a pronoun, it starts with a verb that enforces its certainty. The work was quite tiresome as we had to think of problems that are going to occur after asking the people to evacuate to make Israel a no-man's state. I was also quite tired so my concentration levels were not exactly at the top so this is the main problem for today. Hopefully next week I won't be as tires because we are going to be putting the ideas in the formal UN language.

Lion and the jewel play
The days for the performances were Thursday and Friday night from 7-10. The first performance was very intense and scary. I was very nervous and there was a big audience and lights and darkness and animals and food so it was very distracting. I found it difficult to concentrate until I was actually performing. The arrival time for Thursday for the performers was 5pm since we had to get costumes, make up, counseled and breathing exercises done to prepare for the performance. I had done this once before in yr 9 when we had a drama performance but it had been long since I actually was in this situation. The play began okay and the dancing was fine and I fortunately did not fall down or miss any steps though I didn't smile as much which was something we were lectured about on before Friday's performance. The performance went well and I had fun without knowing it.
basketball reflection
Today we had a basketball match against Heritage. This time I got to play for ten minutes and I scored giving the team two points. I was surprised when the coach chose me to play since I was never chosen but it was a great experience. I managed to stay on my man most of the time but I need to box out the other team as an improvement. Anyway the team won 28-22 and the finals are this Saturday against ISU. This team beat us 17-3 the last game we played against it and we have gotten better in shooting, defense and offense. The finals are at ISU which is far away and I have to be at school at 7am which is very early. Overall today was exciting particular when I scored.

Basket ball reflection
Yesterday, basketball was fun. Most of the time we are running drills and it all takes hard work but this time, we still did drills in which we were 'boxing out' pushing the offense so that they do not get the rebound and practicing getting around the man on man defense. We were supposed to have a game today but it was cancelled. Anyway, we played a game yesterday. It was three on three and it was new. We never play games so it was fun. I got four chances to score but unfortunately I missed them. I hope to do better next time but the experience was worth it and we did not have to run suicides at the end of the practice.

Basket ball club reflection
In the first try out, we had to play a game and this was to see on what level we were on. The names were displayed and I was in the open girls basketball team. training began at the first week of second term and was difficult because I was not fit. We worked on our cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength and endurance. We also worked on shooting techniques and lay-ups. The routine we do is regular with dribbling skills, push ups, sit-ups, skipping and suicides after practice. The first game for the team was with ISU (International School of Uganda) and we lost horribly and also with Aga Khan however the team won the game with Heritage and Rainbow and hope to be in the finals. I have not played any match yet but I go for the practice on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I have improved completely from two months ago in fitness, dribbling, shooting and strength. I hope to be able to play in the other games.
Cancer Charity Foundation club reflection
For the Cancer Charity Foundation, I wanted to help and learn more about the types of cancer and how it has affected people. one the first day, I did research on the types of cancer and found that they were many and only curable when found early. To raise funds for a trip to a cancer home, we had to plan a fundraiser and considered a brunch for the teachers at our school. The fundraiser requires bringing food from home to sell as a buffet at 10000 UGX. We raised about 200.000UGX. and went to a cancer home.
The cancer home was an eye opener as we were informed that the patients stayed after receiving treatment, chemotherapy, and returned home after a few days. I found people, children, adults and their stories were touching and inspiring. We stayed and talked to them for a while and they were grateful to have company. they also told us ways in which we could help them. One man was thinking about of his children and wanted them to have books, pencils and pens for their children. we brought food for them as gifts.
The club went from first term and I enjoyed learning about the effects of cancer and the participation and involvement in the club. This club allowed me to engage in issues of global importance and work collaboratively with others to plan and initiate activities.

Lion and Jewel play reflection
The practice for the Lion and the Jewel was on Wednesday at 3.15pm-4.30pm and Saturday at 10am-12pm for the first few weeks. on the last week, we practiced everyday except Thursday. I was interested in joining as a dancer for this play because it was creative and I wanted to undertake a new challenge. The dance we practiced was West African and it was entirely new to me but not difficult to perform if i paid attention. The first few steps were quite simple but as the steps progressed, it became quite difficult and I had to practice more often.
On Wednesday, the practice was for an hour and we learnt new steps and on Saturday, we pieced what we had learnt together from the beginning. When the due date was approaching, we moved from the drama room to the amphitheatre and this is when it got particularly complicated. The transition was challenging but educational as I learned how too use the available space and make use of it without running into other dancers. for the show, we all had to move uniformly and perfect the dance to improve the presentation.
in the last two weeks, we had to potray market ladies to set the scene of a market place. The props were actual food: watermelons, matooke, cabbage and animals: goats, hens. I was roasting maize.

MUN reflection
MUN is interesting and developmental at the same time. i had my first debate last week and it was challenging. the debate was about the Israeli-Palestine conflict and the solutions to the conflict. there were three, make them two nations, make them one nation with an agreeable government and the third evacuate both parties and leave Israel as a no man state with only police patrolling and the care takers of the important places. i was arguing for the third point and it was very exciting because every one was asking questions about the solution and i defended my argument but we lost. nevertheless it was very stimulating and next week we will be learning to formally present our solutions as proposals and learn how to best benefit the people. MUN is every Friday.
