Senior Choir
Last week, we performed on stage. I was very nervous on the night that was the Christmas carol festival. However it turned out well and apparently our best songs were Holiday Romance, Alleluia and Santa Claus is coming to town. We had to also sing at the Teacher Appreciation Day Lunch, the Primary Assembly and the Second Assembly. All in all being in choir was a wonderful experience and I learn to mainly sing in Alto and control my breathing to create the best voice. Performing in front of people has always made me nervous but this has quelled my fear in that aspect. I am glad I tried something new and faced my fears
Basketball
This week, we have been working on shooting, fast breaks and lay ups. The important part of these exercises are that they are in preparation for the matches. I am getting better at dribbling while sprinting. I have more control over the ball especially on the left side where I had most trouble. I am becoming fitter because of the suicides even though they are tough to do. I no longer need my inhaler as much as before to show my increase in fitness. I however need to work on my shooting from long distances since this is what it holding me back. I am much better this year compared to the last year I was in the basketball team.

Cancer charity project
We had the non-uniform day on Wednesday were the students had to wear pink and / or white to support the cancer charity foundation and they paid UGX5000 each. We were successful in this fundraiser and mad UGX466,000. This amount is good and we hope to continue the other fundraisers to make more money. We plan to visit the cancer home this weekend and it will be the last one. We have invited other students to come along and they are organizing activities and baking food for the visit.
Basketball
Yesterday, we had a game at Heritage International School and sadly we lost. I got to play most of the game and discovered that I had stamina and strength to withstand the time. I may complain about the suicides Mr. Blinkin makes us run during practice but they pay off. I was very good in defense especially since we were playing zone defense which is easier and more strength retaining. I learnt that even if we lost, we did work together as a team and we have room for improvement and I hope to improve my dribbling and shooting.

modern contemporary dance
The end has come for the modern contemporary dance and I learnt a lot on balance, posture, control and flexibility. The dance was added on to from week to week and I finally danced it without any mistakes two weeks ago on Thursday. It was a fun way to get fit for basketball and at the same time taught me how to be more aware of my environment and my body. I learnt control and how to express different emotions through movement. The timing is very important to the music and it changes since no music is monotone. Dancing as been fun and has made me more aware and flexible.
Mango Roses
The final play for Mango Roses was a success. The script that we wrote was tweaked to be a musical and the music was very good and relevant to the certain scenes that were being acted. The best part about the play was the flashback of Rosie's parents fighting and the drunken dad killing Rosie's mother. It was acted out through dance and the backdrop was red to suit he bloody emotion filled scene. The writing of the script might have been challenging but it worth it. To see your work being acted out on stage by good actors is a treasure and a memory I will never forget. This whole Mango Roses experience was fun and very educative.
Basketball
Last week, we had tryouts for the basketball team and I got into the basketball team. We have started practicing and we mainly do fitness: suicides, skipping, push ups and sit ups. Then we work on techniques mainly shooting free throws and lay ups. I have improved my left side lay ups form last year. We practice 3 times a week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Senior Choir
We have been practicing mainly these songs for the music festival on the 4 or 5 December. The songs are Holiday Romance, Santa Claus is coming to town, Freedom is coming and Alleluia Chorus. So far we have considered dance moves for the second song but the definite song we will do is that and Holiday Romance that has a 1950s theme to it. Mr.Pearson has volunteered to help practice with us and I am enthusiastic about the choir and the music festival, my first choir performance.
cancer charity project
For the last two weeks, we have been deliberating on the various fundraisers that we could be to raise more money. First is the non-uniform day in which people are to wear white or pink for breast cancer and prostate cancer. Each person is to pay about UGX5,000 for the day and this will take place next week Friday. The second event is the flee market stall we are planning to put up to sell art pieces that were donated to the foundation by a generous mother. We will also sell food and to have a stall, we have to pay UGX10,000. This would take place on the next two weeks on a Friday from 3.10 to 4pm. The final event is a volleyball tournament that we planned to take place either on the 29 Nov. or 6 Dec. The teams will play against each other and there will be music and food and fun. It still needs approval but so far we have these events planned and the first two are a sure deal but the third one needs more deliberating on and approval.

Mango Roses
The script for the play 'Mango Roses' is almost done. I have finished scene 8 which is when Rosie is stubbornly refusing to serve the men when kneeling down. I started writing scene 6 yesterday were there is whispering about Rosie's Grandmother and her life before she married James. The scene involves speculations and hints of what really happened before. Scene 7 will be the last one I write since Shirley has already done the last scene. After scene 7, we will combine what we have written and give it to Mr. Thompson, the teacher who started this project. The musical is turning out okay with Mary Ann writing the songs and Kate having arrived on Sunday. This project has enabled me to realize that I can write plays and has been an interesting experience from the start.
Senior Choir
Last Friday, we continued to practice 'Santa Claus is coming to town' and we are getting better. Next ime we will be adding moves to make the song a show choir piece. We also did the 'Alleluia' song and we walked around the room to get the pace for the song. We finally did 'Tuimbe Masicule' and we were supposed to get our parts for altos, sopranos and bass. I think that my voice is getting better with practice and may be a change of song would be better however learning these songs is important to get the pieces right before we move on to other pieces.

Modern Contemporary dance
Yesterday, I practiced the turns and stretching to improve how pointed my toes should be during turns and other techniques. I have to bend my feet at the ankles and keep them their for a while so that my muscles can get accustomed to the tension. The instructor says that the pain I feel when stretching is tension leaving the muscles and exposing them to new positions since they do not usually point them everyday. The pressure added is to help expand their range at the joints. Another exercise I did was strengthening my legs. I would have to sit on an invisible chair and keep my back straight while my hands swing and let loose. Monitoring my breathing helps to ease the tension. I also did the dance that he has been adding on and realized that I have grown in my dancing. It is a definitely new experience and hope to continue to expand.
Knitting
On Tuesday, I started to add on to the lines I has already has and I learnt a new techniques where you get the knot from the first back hole, hook it and pass it through then, hook it again and do the same thing. I need to learn to be organized in my knitting since the techniques and presentation will be better if I do. I am starting to get the technique and hope to perfect it soon.

Mango Roses
Today, we discussed the scenes we had written the night before. Shirley had written scene 2 and I had written scene 3. The script consultant, James Macgruder, started correcting the parts and added to what he thought was needed. Mary Ann, the music composer, had written two songs for the scenes 1 and 6. We mainly talked about how to present the story and the scripts and it was quite difficult because they wanted to change most of the parts, I had written into a song. They still aren't sure but I have to finish writing scene 5 today and the rest will continue over the next few days as we complete the script. The writing part is fun and quite easy, all I have to do is picture the scene, consider the characters of the play and see how it plays out and what they would say to each other. It's rather hurried but enjoyable. The most frustrating part is the uncertainty of whether half your scene will be cut out. All in all, this is a very new experience and it has shown me another side of what I can do and accomplish.
Cancer charity project
Yesterday, we started discussing possible fundraisers for our visits to the cancer home. Deshin and I decided to sell food and drinks to the parents, students and any audience during the Gamma Rays play that is at the end of October. There is a pinic where two broad way musicians are going to perform. I thought we could do the same but the PTA have booked that evening so we need to come up with another fundraiser for next week. There are some pieces of art and I think that we could sell them and get some money during the picnic so that it's not a total loss of opportunity. We just have to present our idea and hope that the CAS coordinator says yes!

Mango Roses
Mango Roses is a musical mainly about two women who eventually have trace back their roots and find out about their grand parents misfortune of liaisons and disloyalty. The women have to deal with drunken dads, dying grandmothers, liaisons under a mango tree and the truth that they are related and their lives' have been lead by lies. Today, the rehearsals started with yesterday being the auditions for the actors to play the roles. So far there are 21 people. I was approached by my English teacher to write the original story about these women. My story was long and now I am a co-playwright with Shirley Carruthers. Last week, we started with a two scenes mainly for the auditions but they are to be part of the play. The scenes were Rosie's village meltdown and the character's having fun in a bar. I wrote Rosie's meltdown and it felt good to write this. I have never written a script before and it turned out well with the script consultant Jim Macgruder advising and telling us to add anything. In this play, we are to work with two renowned broadway musicians Mary Ann Ivan and Kate. They will mostly be writing the music. Today, we discussed that during the week, we would be writing the first 4 scenes of the script. I do 2 of them and Shirley does the other two. The 5th scene will mainly be music and hope it works well. I have realized through this that I can actually write scripts instead of just poetry and stories. It is a real eye opening and learning experience. It is going to be a lot of work though since we have to write all the scenes at least by next week when Kate arrives.

Senior Choir
Last week, we mainly practiced 'freedom is coming', 'Tuimbe Masicule' and 'Santa Claus is coming to town'. For each of them, we had to get our parts, soprano, alto and bass. I sang alto for all the songs and its much easier than soprano. I tried it and it was difficult keeping the same note even though I can do it. Alto seems clear and steady and maybe in another song, I'll sing soprano not matter how high just for the challenge. Choir has really improved my voice and the exercises we start with help straighten posture and with the voice.
Knitting
Last week, I finally got the concept of the 2nd and 3rd bunched of sowing. I have finally moved on and it's quite difficult but after you get the technique its easier. My friends in the club seem to have grasped the concept quicker and are further ahead but slowly I will catch up. The teacher, Ms.Hecker, is very patient even when I ask her the method about 10 times in the class. But I finally got the technique. I am very good at the practical work but this is a lesson I was willing and put myself to accomplishing.
Cancer charity project
This week, we started discussing possible fundraiser's for to make money for the foundation. I also started the poster and it has turned out pretty well. The developments have been going slowly these weeks but I plan to make sure that October we have enough money by the end of the month. The poster's are to be hang and getting the group to make others has made it easier for the work to be done quickly.

Senior choir
Last week, we sang Santa Claus is coming to town and Sing Noel in depth until we got the parts for the sopranos, altos and basses. We were fewer this time so all of us had to pitch in and it was good practice as we learnt to harmonize at the beginning with key notes and then lyrics from songs. It starts with one group going first and then the second following but ending on a key note at the same time. My voice is better and I learnt the repeat signs for the songs and proper posture for singing.

Modern Contemporary dance
Today, we practiced more turns and how to keep stable and center myself. I am getting better at turning and moving my hips during the turning steps. The arms help balance you and your feet should be pointed to ensure balance and length. Then the instructor added on to the steps and it wasn't that difficult to grasp. The steps today were easier than the steps last week. I also got a chance to practice the entire dance form from the beginning steps. I was also taught stretches that eventually lead to a split. The stretches work gradually and increase flexibility and fluidity especially for the jumps that I learnt today. I still need to get my footing right though.
Knitting
This week, we built on the basics and started knitting into the folds of the original threads. The needle had to go through the top knot and just the same steps except the loop is pulled twice. It was difficult for me to figure out honestly. I get the theoretical part but not the practical and my friend had to help me do it numerous times. The concept seems easy but I tried to do it. The teacher said that there is always next week to try and get it so maybe I will understand it then.

Senior choir
Today, we mainly practices christmas songs mainly 'Sing Noel' and 'Santa Claus is coming to town'. I think we might have a christmas show and frankly, I am not much of a performer. The lyrics are easy to get and quite nice when the entire choir sings. The songs are old but okay and I hope we can do more new songs

Cancer charity project
On Monday, we mainly concentrated on posters and spreading awareness of cancer to the school. I got prostate cancer will others got to do breast, lung and advertise the club so that the school knows what we are doing. The posters are part of the creativity component in this project and it is good to have to design things since we don't get to do it as much during lessons. The posters have to be informative but not to a point of scaring everyone so its interesting how I need to balance out the information. Researching about this cancers gives me a chance too also learn how to prevent the cancers so the information is very crucial.
Modern contemporary dance
Today was more tiring but interesting and fun. We added on to the new steps of last week and practiced them. The main objectives were to learn to control the body and make sure your mind is attuned to your steps. I mainly learnt how to do more turns and practice the balance and flexibility component of dancing. It was not simple since I am the least flexible person but with practice, flexibility is improved drastically and also the steps. They main seem difficult at first but as I eased into them, they felt good. I also learnt that each movement has to elongate your body mainly the hands and the pointed toes. Pointed toes are important and give more grace and fluidity to the dancing. The more practice, the better my body will be attuned to the steps.

Knitting club
Knitting is well, something I definitely would not even bother thinking of but my friend dragged me there and I was not so bad. The first time, it was not easy getting the technique but when I did, I was knitting fast. The teacher, Ms.Hecker, got some nice knitting thread and hooks. I felt good to sit there and just have something to do without thinking too much. We started learning the basics, trying to make uniform patterns while doing one line. The technique was good and I learnt some thing very new and I would not have even thought about doing.
Senior Choir
With the first session for choir (last week), we saw and went through some songs mainly soul and gospel. we sang Kumbayah, Let's sing, Let it be, Freedom, Alleluia. The most challenging was alleluia. There are about fifteen members. I learnt some signs in music and I realized that I have completely forgotten how to read music. last time I read music was 4 years ago. I learnt signs like To Coda, D.S. coda, the repeat signs. This week, we were doing to challenging songs Let's sing and Alleluia. I sang the alto part, soprano is way too high and it felt good. It is important to have proper stance when you are singing, it helps project the voice. I enjoy singing and we also learnt to harmonize with 'Row your boat' it was interesting since I have never done that. It was fun
Modern contemporary dance
I decided to do this club to try something new and dancing has never been something I am keen to. On Thursday the dance instructor started with stretching and then teaching me to turn (ballet turns without the added pain ). They were quite challenging and dancing does not come that easily to me. I made sure to learn and then he taught me some steps. They were quite difficult but I got the hang of it. These steps needed flexibility ( smooth steps) and concentration. I have to practice them and next week we are going to build on to those steps.
cancer charity project
This is the first week of since the beginning of the new year IB2. When we met on Monday, we had to get to know the other participants and we got new people in our project and I hope this makes it run smoothly. We started to think of ideas to fundraise for money and go to the cancer home on certain dates. This will be my last term to do this and I hope I can make some money and connect with people on how to best help the people in the cancer home.

PEDN summer internship
Two weeks ago, On Monday, I was told to arrange the profile
for the students who attended the Ashoka Youth venture. There were many papers
and I was to file them accordingly. On Tuesday, I was typing the profiles of
the students problems and solutions into a template and it was not difficult
except the templates didn’t settle and it took me a while to figure out how
they works but in the end, I did a third of the work and finished by Wednesday
with the other interns who we separated the work with. On Thursday, I was told
to type the names of the people who came for the event and count and record how
many boys and girls came from each school and put the totals and respective
figures on the papers of their registration forms. This week was mainly
wrapping up the youth venture data and storing it organized.
PEDN summer internship
Two weeks ago on Saturday was the Ashoka Youth Venture and it was amazing.I arrived at 9am and started on the registration table were I was in charge of registering secondary school students and having their names written on an identification card. This went on for about 2 hours and the youth venture began with speeches from many Ashoka fellows from East Africa. Their was an icebreaker and the students were eventually split into groups to talk about the problems in their communities and how to change them. I went and sat with a group and learnt how many problems were faced by different communities far away from Kampala and I contributed with ways to make the solution better like others in the group did. In the afternoon, we skyped with Ashoka fellows from the UK, USA, Kenya, Tanzania and it was a good experience in sharing ideas and the similarities between different places and people. At about 3pm we cut a cake and celebrated the event after speeches from the Minister of finance and Gloria Wavamunno who founded a school to help students to learn better. Overall I enjoyed the day and it was a lot of fun to interact and meet new people.

PEDN summer internship
Last
week was not as busy. On Monday, I mainly did my Internal Assessments for
school but on Tuesday, I was told to add emails to the website management part
of the official website and the list was very long. I did that for about the
entire week. On Thursday, there was a training for SPSS (Statistical Package
for the Social Sciences) this would help accumulate data from surveys either
questionnaires or interviews. The data is coded in numbers and those numbers
are entered. The app gives you the frequency, graphs and any depiction and
translation of data needed. The program is very useful for any data collection
and processing. I learnt how to use the program although I am a bit rusty with
the basics. It was very important and useful for me to learn about this
software and it uses.

PEDN- summer work experience
This was my first week at PEDN and I found out that they had changed locations from Ntinda to Kiwatule. It doesn't matter. I usually start at 9 am and end at 3pm and on Monday, I found out that the coming Saturday was a youth venture event at Hill preparatory school in Naguru. Martin my supervisor started me with designing the register sheet for the day and the certificates too. I did 2 of them and they choose one. Of course it needed a bit of tweaking since this was my first time to design a certificate and I learnt that it was not very difficult. It was just like designing the yearbook pages and the advertisement for the events. On Tuesday, I was told to input metadata options so that major search sites could recognise the pages on the internet with those key words. It took me longer than it should due to the slow internet connection but I finished it the next day. From this I learnt that key words are helpful to spread awareness as it helps the sites be located and that new things are very diverse.
On Thursday, I was told to take the Aflateen website challenges but the internet connection was bad so it wasn't possible but I saw that through technology, the spread of financial education can be accessed by this generation who are mainly using the internet for knowledge and fun. The challenges looked fun and you won badges and certificated plus reflections are needed for what you have learnt. Today, I am responsible for looking for videos to show for the Saturday youth venture and downloading them so that they could be ready by tomorrow. This week has been a great learning experience as I did things that I have never done before and hope to continue this for the next few weeks.

Yesterday, I decided to make a necklace and it turned out pretty well. I even had the things that close and open it. I put large blue beads at the start and the end and in the middle was red and green combination which looked nice. I managed to make this necklace in about 40min and was very relaxing during the time. the necklace is going to be a christmass gift and hope it will be a nice one for someone.

MUN
Last Friday, we worked on the position paper on N.Korea and I had done the outline and got most of the information before. My group found out that we had to write the paper in paragraphs and since I had done the research and put the information in easier understandable language, my partner modified the document into paragraphs and the work was handed in Monday morning.
yearbook
Last Wednesday, I laminated the posters I made and put them up all over the school. They were in colour so looked nice and I they will stay there for a long time. The advertisement is going on well and hope that the cheap prices will bring more money. We might start collecting money for the yearbook after next week.
cancer charity project
Today, we finalised the preparations for the waffle sale and decided to make them before and just sale them during break and lunch. also the only day of sale is Thursday and I hope we get more than UGX300,000 as a increment from our last fundraiser. I already put up the posters and also announced it in the daily memo so everyone will know what is going on.

Today, I finished the bracelet I was working on last time. I used the same combination of 2 purples and a red. I made a long bracelet so that eventually, I will wound it around my arm and it worked. the bracelet wound three times and looks good. I felt good when I finished the bracelet and hope to do something different next Tuesday.

cancer home visit 11/5/13
on Saturday,I went to the cancer home with other students and a teacher. the home is in Najjanankubi on Entebbe road and the experience was interesting. first, we were taken on a tour of the cancer home and this weekend, there weren't many people. however we made the most of it and were introduced to the patients. I had baked a cake and brought lollipops while other members brought soda, waffles. We shared our food and also brought food from the money we made at school from the Poetry bake sale and the yr7 car wash. my contribution was half of the money used to buy the non-perishable food bought for the home. I found the place to offer a great service were they took the patients to the hospital for treatment and back during the week and the home was a place for rest. One of the patients was a mother of a 9months old child and was struggling to support the child when she had cancer. another was a girl, her name Immaculate, and she had cancer in her foot but it was curable and she was very happy. Also there was a boy, Allan who had a swelling in the face and wasn't happy but when we shared food, he smiled. so that is how the visit went. the next one in 1/6/13
cancer charity project
today, i did alot of planning. the posters from last time that I sent for photocopying and laminating, I hung them up and they actually looked every nice. anyway the planning was for events coming up till the end of the term. for next week, i planned for there to be a waffle sale on wed, thurs during break and lunch. we will take orders and each waffle will be UGX2000. I will put list in register but first, advertisement. I was planning to make posters to be put up by Friday, put announcements in the daily memo's and facebook remainders. then I also planned for a car wash on funday KISU on 8th June and I was hoping to re-do the food drive with posters and boxes in every room to improve on last time's failure.

MUN
this week we were supposed to complete the position paper but I only did three quarters of it but we were given more time. N.korea my group was allowed to be inconsiderate and radical which i enjoy doing and we had a speaker from a person who lived in S.korea for the last 2 years. she said that S.Korea was very technology based using cards and the swipe method to pay for bills and entrance to appartments. she also said that N.Korea has always been trying and threatening to invade S.korea. also that N.korea is starving and they try to donate. S.korea also wants unification to better the lives of N.korea. this speech was very educational and eye opening as she told us of the Korean conflict in 1950 and today.
yearbook
this week we started to plan the advertising for the year book. the teacher put us into groups of designing posters for secondary, primary, whole school and sports. I am doing the secondary poster and finished it during the club time. We were supposed to put pictures, information and a large sign saying buy the yearbook at UGX35,000. my poster has a black background with pictures of secondary students and a little poem about memories.

craft club
Today I made a bracelet and I mixed a red, two purples and another red. This gave the bracelet structure and when I saw it come out, it looked good. I was planning to make a bracelet that wounds around my arm about three times and then tie it together. I was on my way to finish when all the beads spilt out of the string and I had to start again. This was annoying but I sat down concentrated and finished the previous length that had just fallen out. Next time I need to put more beads and then try to tie the strings together to make the bracelet

Today we planned the activities for the cancer home and try to get more money but that was a bust. anyway the club has is getting more money for a car wash. to day I got the posters photocopied and I am going to put them up tomorrow. for the cancer home, we plan to buy non-perishable food but also bring food for them to eat. I am bringing cakes and lollipops while other club members will bring sodas, cake, oreos and cake. I am looking forward to going to the home on Saturday and hope to interact with the patients. after this visit, I should be able to plan more activities to bring in more money than this time. More UGX324,000.

MUN
Last Friday was a continuation as my group, N.Korea tried to write a position paper. This is difficult and needs alot of research, knowledge. We started but I need to complete it this week before Friday for presentation. The position paper defines and it is easier to identify allies when it is presented. The session started with a short debate on whether TV is dangerous and my view was turned down. I guess I am more of a background person. I do the work and then the other person presents. Most of my arguments are not good so I just keep quiet eventually. I will do the work needed to be presented but the presenting and answer back part is not for me.

Yesterday, we made phone bags. The procedure was quite simple, we had to measure the width of the phone and relate it to the length to get it equal. Then I cut the soft cloth and folded it. I then cut the flaps that will be used to cover the bag. I sowed the edges. I had learnt how to sow when I was ten but completely forgotten. This was the chance to relearn and it was difficult first especially when I poked my hand about four times but got the hand of it soon. I then sowed the button on the flap and all I have to do is put a hole for the button to fit in. I learnt a new skill during yesterday's session and it felt good to do something with my hands except write in a book.
cancer charity project
During the bake sale in the poetry anthology, we raised UGX319,100. This is 55% the profit of the money we had before. the bake sale was hectic and we had many customers. Me and another club member sold the food and got another person to help with the money. I went home at 10pm and I still had h/w but it was worth it in the end. On Monday, I finished my poster about lung cancer and I need to get it photocopied to put around the school. The only time I have is tomorrow and hope to get it done soon. We have set a date to go to the cancer home and it is 11/5/13. By this time, we have to get more money and hope to have a cupcake sale this week or the next.

MUN
Last Friday, we had to present our research on Korean history, I did the research, Anna did the talking which kind of worked out well. This week we were introduced to what they call a position paper. This is a paper that shows the views of the country you are representing. The people were split into 5 groups. The group I'm in is North Korea and I had to find the views and situation of it. We got the information and next week my group is to write a position paper. The structure is quite easy and hope to be able to complete it in time. Every week, I learn new things in MUN and I'm glad for this.
Yearbook
This Wednesday, we continued to edit the yearbook pages and i did the entire Key stage and reception classes. The rules were simple, put the text in Arial narrow 12, the heading in Arial narrow 48 and bold and make sure there are pictures. As more events happen, there will be more pages to do and I hope to have more pages done next week. They took photos of us this week and there is going to be a yearbook page. Next week we are going to start on the advertisement pages and this is going to be a real challenge because I have never done those pages before. It is going to be a real learning experience.

Craft club
Today we had a choice between decorating revision books for the end of year exams and making knots, scooby doos apparently named. I have never done this creativity stuff so it took me some time to get the technique. It was quite frustrating at first but I got the technique in the end. I just have to practice to get better at the technique. Making crafts are a good pass time and if I can practice in the bus and anywhere else if I am bored.

Yesterday we discussed that we should start putting posters around the school about cancer. The poster I am doing to about lung cancer. the information should be short, precise and informative. It should be short reading. I started getting the information during the club time and the rest of the decoration will be during the week and weekend. Also other posters will be made on other types of cancer. We announced on assembly about the food donation and put it in the memo but so far, no success. I hope that the food sale at the poetry anthology would raise more money. I guess we could try better next week and hope to have more effort from the students

MUN
on Friday, MUN was interesting because we began with a little argument of male nurses and female doctors. We talked about the fact of the numbers that there are more female doctors and still less male nurses and the society and the thoughts about their positions. the topic we have began on was the Korean war. we had to split the work into eight groups and in my group, i work with Anna. we are to look at the history of the Korean peninsula and in the next week, we are to talk about the topic in 2 minutes. this is going to be quite hard because the history is alot especially in the 20th century. we are to finish the work on Thursday afternoon.

Yearbook club
today was the first of trying to make the yearbook look amazing. I did the swimming page during the weekend and in the club, we have to edit the pages and make them worth looking at. Today i concentrated on the year 11 pages for class and outdoor education. The class page was fine just small details to correct but the outdoor education trip page was a mess. I had to start by getting their pictures and cropping them because they had been distorted. At the end of the Hour I had managed to make the page look better than it had with all the new pictures and hoped the supervisor liked it. this is hard work, the amount of time it took to correct that page was long but worth while when it was done. I now know how the creativity part of this activity is since i have to know where the pictures go and not to overwhelm the page and at the same time have some content in it. I had some experience before in year 10 when i did the yearbook but this time it is different. The format is different and this time there are more rules to follow than last time. I still think it is a great activity that allows me to get involved mentally and creative wise.

Craft club
Today was the first day and it was relaxing. I have maths HL
which is a headache but this activity cleared my mind. Though I did little and
barely understood how to do the knot, i tried with no avail but i am determined
to make it next time. I had to eventually get creative and did something worth
looking out but the string broke and i had to start again. during the weekend
when i have time i might look for the knot and try it again. I believe this is
a good active and it showcases my creative side, sometimes!
